Today Fat Mum Slim had a fun prompt: {water}.
I had this specific picture in my mind of catching water droplets as it flows out of the tap.
This was the result of the picture – pretty close to what I had imagine in my head.
Some more fun with water today. My brother helped with this picture today. We took about 50 pictures before I was happy with just one. Originally I had him dropping the blueberries into the water but my camera/lens isn’t quick enough to capture that “plunk” into the water. But I think this one turned out pretty well. I just really wanted to capture the movement of the water.
Let me know what you think!
I like them both! The plunk would have been awesome, but you managed to capture a more interesting photo, at least I think, it’s more creative. When I first read “Today fat mum” the first thing that ran through my how can she refer to her mother like that…. I had to read it a couple times haha

Thank you!! It was so hard to pick which one I liked better to post to Instagram. I ended up choosing the second photo.
Omg. I had to re-read my sentence again bc I thought I made a mistake! Lol.

Also.. I think I’m going to try the plunk photo with strawberries next time! Maybe bigger splash and slower? I’ll see how it goes!

I like them both very much. Curious what shutterspeed/ISO you used to catch the water droplets out of the faucet. That’s pretty awesome! Very well done!

Thank you so much!
The settings for the water droplet picture are as follows: f/1.8 ss 1/800 ISO 1600
I had to shoot wide open and at a high ISO bc of lack of light in the basement and where the faucet is located. I think I could have gotten away with 1/1000 to make it a bit sharper.

I think you got just the right amount of sharpness on the droplets. The way they are, it feels warm and inviting – like the soft drops are going to caress you when you step in the shower. It also has a slightly slow motion feeling that you caught in mid-air. Again, very striking and like this a bunch!

Oh, I like both alot. Very creative compositions, and I like how there is light coming in through from behind the jar in the second picture. Great job.

Thanks soo much Deborah! 🙂
There was a little spot of light coming through from the window so it worked out perfectly!

I think my favorite of these two is the first one. It’s so clean! Great job! I believe that a “plunk” photo is created by using a macro lenses isn’t it? We own one, maybe I can give it a try sometime.

Hey Kim,
Yes a macro lens would be perfect for that. I was hoping I could do it with mine and was worth a shot. 🙂
Yes please try sometime and share the results. 🙂 I’m interested in seeing it.
